Paulo Amendoeira is a Portuguese percussionist, performer, and improviser based in Bern, with an education in classical contemporary percussion. His artistic practice blends performance, electronics, and improvisation. It is enriched by an ongoing research on noise as material and post-instrumentalism practice, while expanding the sound and expression spectrum of his array of instruments. 

Paulo works in collective and transdisciplinary environments, his most recent projects include |klang.data|, side proYect and ruído blanco. Also, he is a member of Concrète [Lab] Ensemble and Cigarra Associação Cultural and maintains ongoing and close collaborations with composers such as Michael Maierhof, Ilona Perger and Jorge Villoslada Durán. Paulo played with the Ulysses Ensemble and with Les Percussions de Strasbourg.

After graduating from the Lisbon School of Music in 2023, where he studied with Pedro Carneiro, Paulo is currently a MA Performance student at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. He studies with Brian Archinal and also takes lessons with Antoine Françoise, Marc Unternährer, Biliana Voutchkova and Cansu Tanrıkulu.
